Introducing Youth Eco-Stewards!
The next generation of conservationists are taking action within their communities and across the country.
Invasives Canada is proud to announce the launch of our new youth leadership program: Youth Eco-Stewards (YES). Youth Eco Stewards is a national initiative designed to inspire and equip young people with the tools they need to help protect Canada’s lands, waters, and biodiversity. Backed by Invasives Canada and funded through the Canada Service Corps, YES offers valuable career-building experience, mentorship and comradery.
Youth Eco-Stewards is the spiritual successor of our previous Youth Nature Keepers initiative. This program will carry on the passion, values and many of the same youth volunteers into new seasons of stewardship. Our goal for this program remains the same; to empower and support Canadian youth in addressing environmental issues within their communities. Through leading their own environmental projects, contributing to local efforts, and connecting with a national network of peers and experts, YES participants will be directly contributing to the health of Canada’s ecosystems. At a time where environmental leaders are needed more than ever, youth are stepping up to be the change their communities need.
The future of Canada’s environment is in good hands!
Stay tuned for updates on conservation service projects led by our participants across the country. We are excited to share their accomplishments with the Invasives Canada community! Although the program is still gearing up, with recruitment underway, we already have a growing network of passionate individuals. You can anticipate initiatives like invasive species removals, habitat restoration projects, informative invasive species videos, creative artwork, among others!
